Glasses and Places

Each pair of Ultra Limited glasses is named after a place

Each place tells a story

It’s not a matter of style. It’s a deliberate choice that says something about how we work and what we want to create. When you hold a pair of Ultra Limited glasses in your hands and read their name, you know it refers to a real place.
A place with a history, a character, an identity of its own. Not a number in a catalogue, not a generic English term, but a place that really exists.

The reasons behind this choice

We are an Italian eyewear brand, working with Italian craftsmen and using materials, such as cellulose acetate and metal, that require skills passed down through generations, in just a few areas of the country.

Made in Italy for us is not a label. It is the process; it is the person who selects and matches the acetate sheets one by one; it is the time it takes to finish every frame by hand.

This is why our models are named after Italian cities: this is the way those roots enter the product and remain visible.

What each name tells us

There is a logic behind the names we choose: prescription frames are named after Italian cities, sunglasses are named after islands. Our choice of locations is not merely decorative: each name says something specific about the model it represents.

Torcello

An island in the Venetian lagoon, almost uninhabited. Timeless, off the tourist routes. A model that stands out without even trying.

Carloforte

The only town on the island of San Pietro, in Sardinia. A Ligurian identity transplanted to the Mediterranean. A dual origin, recognisable at first glance.

Ostuni

The white city of Puglia. A laminate that borders the front like a picture frame: clean, precise, uncompromising.

Acireale

Baroque and volcanic, nestled on the slopes of Mount Etna. A model with a strong personality that will not go unnoticed.

Licata

Southern Sicily, overlooking the Strait of Sicily. A different sunshine, a light that changes everything.

A catalogue that is also a map

Browsing through our collection is like travelling throughout Italy. The mountain resorts, with Cortina, Corvara, Sestriere. The Mediterranean islands, with Alicudi, Marettimo,Giannutri. Art cities, with Ravenna, Ferrara, Spoleto. Wine villages, with Barolo, Canelli and Monforte

Each name was chosen because it has something to say. Something that the model gets across with its shape, colours, and the way the acetate sheets come together.

The name and the hands that crafted it

There is an undeniable connection between the name of an Italian place and the fact that that pair of glasses has been crafted in Italy by people who have been doing this job all their lives.

Italian eyewear craftsmanship has a long history, it requires skills that cannot be improvised when it comes to working with acetate, bending metal, finishing every detail by hand.

Each name we choose is a tribute to those hands, those skills, pure Italian excellence that needs no explanation, just recognition.
